Belize has some great Mayan ruins. Altun Ha is one of them.
The pyramids were well preserved.

Tourists are allowed to climb the pyramids here unlike some historic
sites in Mexico.

We climbed to the top of the tallest pyramid there to take some great
pictures and admire the view of the plazas.

Altun Ha was pretty large. Our tour guide gave us a good
explanation of the sites.

The Mayan ruins were in a jungle area so some of the pyramids were
still covered up ny grass and brush.

Altun
Ha is a Mayan village located in Belize. This ancient Mayan
village was a trading post and ceremonial place that linked the inland
Mayan communities with the coastal ones. We went here back in
2025 when we were on a cruise that stopped in Belize City. The
site is about 30 miles from Belize City. Since we went in
December, the weather was great. It was quite a trek to climb to
the top of the tallest pyramid there!
