Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch side of St. Martin.
The water is a beautiful turquois color that is found all
over the Caribbean! SXM is a beautiful island with nice trade
winds!

This is the famous Old Street in Philipsburg. It was so colorful!

This is the historic courthouse in Philipsburg. Both the Dutch
and French side of the island have their laws and police force.

Sunset Beach Bar on Maho Beach is the best place to watch the planes
land right over the heads of beachgoers. They have a listing of
the landings at the bar.

Here is a plane landing into SXM.

We are waiting for a JetBlue plane to land at Maho Beach! It was so cool watching the planes land right over your head.

A plane is about to take off here from SXM. We could feel the jetblast when a larger plane took off!

They used St. Martin for that show Below Deck since many luxury yachts dock here. Here is one in Simpson Bay.

Here is Ft. Louis on the French side of the island.

Ft. Louis was really cool! The views of Marigot were amazing!

Marigot is the capital of the French side of the island!

We found a nice Greek restaurant on the beach when we were on the French side for lunch. The views were amazing!

Sint Maarten and St. Martin
are the names for each side of the divided Caribbean island that is
shared by the Dutch and French. Philipsburg is the capital of the
Dutch side, and Marigot is the capital of the French side. Each
side has their own laws and police, but there are no border controls
between them. The license plates are even different with the
French side having the traditional European style rectangular plates
that has a F on them for France since it is a part of France. The
Dutch side is an autonomous territory of the Netherlands. The
island is around 80 degrees year round with trade winds that keep the
island pretty temperate. We rented a car and drove around the
island. It was pretty easy to navigate the island. The main
airport is on the Dutch side, and it is known for having the low flying
planes which land right over people's heads on Maho Beach. Make
sure to go to Topper's Rum Distillery also for their rum infused ice
cream!
