The seaside town of Cascais
and the royal mountain retreat of Sintra are close by attractions to
the city of Lisboa. Cascais has an unique seaside charm with an
old fortress and some Moorish influences in the architecture as well as
the typical mosaic tiled sidewalks. Sintra has lots of colorful
homes of the former Portuguese nobility as well as many palaces.
The royal family of Portugal lived in Sintra most of the time
before the monarchy was abolished. Both places are worth a
