Se Catedral Porto is the cathedral of Porto. This massive
historic building is a centerpiece of the beautiful city.
The stainglass windows inside the Se Catedral were the most beautiful
stainglass I have ever seen!
Porto was known as the "Bishop's City" since the Bishop had more power
than the King in this city back in the day. These are some of
the bishop's historic robes and garments.
The Clerigos Tower is the tallest structure in Porto.
The bluish building is a church with beautiful tiles on the outside.
Here is a nice viewpoint of Porto with the Se Catedral and the Bishops
House (large white building) in the distance.
This is a view of Porto from the city of Gaia across the river.
That bridge was designed by the same person who designed the
Eiffel Tower.
Porto has so many churches and historic buildings.
Lots of buildings in Porto had tiles on the outside too like in Lisbon
since it helps keep the building from being repainted all the time
since the humidity is bad on paint.
The sign for this shop was interesting since it depicted a local person
serving the colonial "master." There is no cancel culture in
Portugal.
This is a nice view of the Duoro River Valley with the terraced
vineyards.
I am ready to do some port tasting here at Quinta da Roeda, which is
owned by the Croft Port Shippers.
Here is a picture of some vineyards at the Croft Vineyard, Quinta da
Roeda. They mostly make port wine in this area.
We took a relaxing river cruise on the Duoro River too.
This is another nice picture of the terraced vineyards in the Duoro
River Valley.
This is the monastary in Amarante, a small town where the patron saint
of marriage is entombed. Amarante is known for "penis shaped"
cookies which ladies buy so they can get find a husband. LOL.

Northern Portugal was different from Lisbon. Porto is the
major city in the north, and it is very historic. However, it
was not as colorful as Lisbon. The Se Catedral is the main
focal point of the city, but there are many cool churches and the
Clerigos Tower also. Near Porto, one can go to Amarante,
which is a small town known for where single ladies go to get a
blessing to find a husband since the patron saint of marriage, San
Goncalo is in a tomb in the monastary there. The Duoro River
Valley is where port wine is made. The valley has lots of
vineyards terraced along the mountainside, and there is a beautiful
river that runs through the valley.
