Telluride is a historic sleepy mountain town with amazing vistas of the
western slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
Mountain Village is the modern part of Telluride with a lot of slopes
for skiers.
A free gondola connects Telluride to Mountain Village.
Telluride has great nordic trails too.
This is a nice view of the snowy main street from the New Sheridan Chop House at dusk.

Telluride, CO is just
like that old Josh Gracin song, "Telluride," where he describes it as a
sleepy mountain town where the rich kids enjoy themselves on "daddy's
dime." Telluride is in the Western Slopes of the Rocky Mountains
and about an hour south of Montrose, which is the closest major airport
to the area. After flying in to Montrose, one can take a shuttle
or rent a car and head over to Telluride. I recommend the
historic boutique hotel, New Sheridan Hotel in Telluride. That
hotel was built in 1895. Mountain Village is the modern ski
village side of the area, and it is accesible via a short gondola ride.
